Mogadishu's transport scene is built around shared minibuses (dabba-dabba) that run fixed routes through the main districts, they're cheap, crowded, and the only option most locals use. For comfort, metered taxis hang around hotels and the airport; they're a splurge but worth it after dark when the minibuses thin out. A handful of ride-hailing apps operate, though coverage can be patchy once you leave the central areas. First-timers should know that traffic is heaviest mid-morning and late afternoon, so allow extra time for any cross-city trip. Avoid unmarked cars offering "special taxi" service at the airport exit. Stick to the official rank or use an app if you have data. Once in town, dabba-dabba stops are unmarked, just wave when you see the destination sign in the windshield and have small notes ready. Drivers rarely carry change.
